Flowers, flowers, everywhere
This summer, we’re expecting florals to take centre stage, as seen in this shoot by Anna Fern Weddings. The look was all about beautiful blooms and mixing textures and colours to create something truly magical. “I decided to let go of a colour palette,” says Anna. “After all, flowers in a garden grow wildly and with no precise rule, and they always work together so perfectly!” Combined with the secret garden setting and accessories with more pretty florals, it really is a garden paradise.
A secret garden
This tree-filled private garden belongs to Number Sixteen Hotel in London’s South Kensington, which can be hired for civil wedding ceremonies and even an intimate wedding breakfast for up to 30 guests. “Florist Palais Flowers transformed the garden into a stunning wedding backdrop by creating a magical flower arch of cherry blossoms,” says Anna. “There were statement bouquets for the bride and flower girl and a very modern buttonhole for the groom.”
Softly does it…
“The inspiration for this shoot came from an exhibition of botanical drawings of plants, seeds and flowers,” says Anna. “Palais Flowers created a long central arrangement using apothecary bottles filled with single stems of flowers such as aquilegia, cherry blossom, pink thistle and fritillaria. The flower theme also continued on the menus and the gold-leaf place cards, made by Eagle Eyed Bride. There were even tiny dried petals inside the bride’s earrings and the groom’s cufflinks by Sea Meadow Designs.”
“The cake table looks like a painting, covered in flowers of all colours and shapes, with real flowers mixed with cakes and sweets,” says Anna. “At each place setting, we also had plaster tiles featuring flower impressions, made by artist Rachel Dein.”
