RIBA at 66 Portland Place

RIBA at 66 Portland Place is a Grade II* listed building located on an avenue known for its decadent Georgian architecture. Built in 1934, the venue’s Art Deco design is considered one of the best examples of Art Deco/Swedish Modernism in the UK. With floor to ceiling windows, a triple height atrium, period features and three roof terraces, 66 Portland Place combines the very best in mid-century modern elegance and 21^st century service to create a stunning and romantic backdrop for weddings.

Event Spaces

Designed as the principal entertaining area, the Florence Hall features stunning floor to ceiling windows, which fill the room with an abundance of light, glass doors and carved pillars to provide a chic, mid-century backdrop for wedding celebrations. The expansive space can accommodate all manner of set-ups, including the addition of a dancefloor, while the outside terrace provides a beautifully calming oasis in the city in which to enjoy a Champagne toast in style.

The Florence Hall at RIBA can hold up to 250 guests for a seated dinner; 220 with dancing and 400 for a standing drinks reception. During spring and summer months, guests can step directly from the Florence Hall onto the tranquil, leafy roof terrace, which can accommodate up to 150 for a drinks reception.

The RIBA Gallery, like the Florence Hall, benefits from etched floor to ceiling windows and Art Deco detailing, as well as access to the adjacent landing, a triple height atrium space arranged around a grand, sweeping staircase. This chic, mid-century space makes the ideal location for a ceremony, reception or both. The Gallery can accommodate 120 guests seated or 150 standing for a civil ceremony. For drinks receptions, an additional 100 guests can be accommodated on the adjacent landing.

Located on the second floor, the Aston Webb Room is part of the original 1934 building and reflects the unique character of the building, which is renowned for representing the best of British Architecture. This atmospheric room, which is perfect for intimate wedding breakfasts and celebrations, is accessed via the venue’s stunning marble staircase, which makes for an incredibly grand entrance route for guests! With walls lined with leather and joinery in Indian laurel wood, the Aston Webb room exudes a stately, mid-century vibe with period features galore, and is complemented by large windows that fill the space with an abundance of natural daylight and a grand view of the tree-lined Portland Place.
