Hythe Imperial Hotel

In a spectacular setting right on the seafront of one of Kent’s most elegant resorts, the landmark Hythe Imperial Hotel is one of the largest wedding venues in the area.

This stylish and grand Victorian hotel is set in formal gardens with panoramic views over the English Channel. It has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment – and in pride of place is the tallest chandelier in Europe, created by Royal Warrant holders Wilkinson and Co – a stunning confection of 25,000 individual crystals.

The public spaces at the Hythe Imperial are chic and contemporary while retaining the high level of comfort demanded by today’s discerning guests. All the 92 bedrooms and suites at the Hythe Imperial are different and range from spacious and decadent; intimate and cosy; sea view or garden view; cottage style suites and family rooms with bunk beds. Top of the range is the Belcourt Suite – the choice of many bridal couples – which is right at the top of the hotel and gives spectacular 180-degree uninterrupted views of the sea.

Receptions are held in the impressive Imperial Ballroom, the walls lined with mirrors and with full length windows giving views over the lawns and the sea. It’s as stunning in daylight as it is twinkly with the candlelight in the evening. And for those who like to enjoy a quiet drink, the hotel has the only Moet & Chandon Champagne Bar in the south east outside London.

The Hythe Imperial Hotel caters for civil ceremonies, religious services, civil partnerships and everything in between – every couple is different, so it’s right that every wedding should be too, and the in-house team of experienced wedding coordinators is on hand to make sure every special day is extra special. There are a variety of wedding packages, starting at £4,350 for up to 50 guests, with a red carpet arrival, welcome drink, crisp white linen, three-course wedding breakfast with wine, Prosecco for the toast, exclusive use of the Imperial Ballroom and its sundecks and terrace for the reception, accommodation for the happy couple and evening buffet included.

Between April and September there is also the option of holding the ceremony outdoors in the ornate Victorian gazebo set in a secret garden with the grand facade of the hotel as a backdrop. It’s available for parties of up to 120, while the impressive Imperial Ballroom is perfect for wedding breakfasts, offering breathtaking views over the sea to France. For couples getting married abroad, but who would like to celebrate back in the UK with friends or family and don’t need a wedding breakfast, the hotel offers an evening Home & Away package with private use of the ballroom and buffet included. ‘We feel we must write to express our delight at our wedding at the Hythe Imperial. When we first chose the Imperial we looked at several venues but found none were as enthusiastic or as helpful with the planning of our wedding as all of your staff. It didn’t matter who we dealt with, everyone was cheerful and helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble.

The venue was prepared immaculately and we have since found that staff were working until 2am to prepare the ballroom. Dedication indeed. Many of our guests stayed in the hotel and all commented on the standard of the rooms and the food. Indeed one was so impressed she asked for the recipe of a sauce that accompanied the wedding breakfast and the chef shared it willingly.

On the day of the wedding we were very reassured by the careful organisation and support by all the staff. We were checked on to ensure that we okay and we needed nothing. Both the ceremony room and the Ballroom looked stunning and were much commented on by all our guests. We took advantage of the gardens and were able to have some lovely photos taken in the pagoda. The children were also able to make use of the garden thanks to the weather and this was much appreciated as young children sometimes do need a space to let off steam. We can only thank you for turning our special day into an extra special day.’
